GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on January 2, 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City by four women, Jessie Wallace Hughan, Helen St. Clair Mullan, Stella George Stern Perry and Elizabeth Heywood Wyman. These four women created Alpha Omicron Pi to encourage a spirit of fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty; to strive for and support the best interests of the colleges and universities in which chapters are installed; and in no way to disregard, injure, or sacrifice those interests for the sake of the prestige or advancement of the fraternity or any of it's chapters. Alpha Omicron Pi’s mission is to promote lifelong friendship, inspire academic excellence and lifelong learning, and develop leadership skills through service to the fraternity and community. Alpha Omicron Pi has 178 chartered collegiate chapters and over 220 alumnae chapters located throughout the United States and Canada. AOII's membership exceeds 123,000 strong, successful and caring women.
The Alpha Lambda chapter at the Georgia Southern University was established in 1988. Just like our four founders had hoped, we plan to continue the tradition of leadership, academic excellence and genuine friendships.

CHAPTER OFFICERS
Within each chapter of AOII, a Leaders Council is elected annually. Our chapter's Leadership Council consists of 18 members who dedicate their time and energy for the betterment of the fraternity, along with collaborating and executing chapter programs and events. Please direct any concerns or questions that you may have to these amazing, hardworking young women!
