PHILANTHROPY

One of the founding principles of Alpha Omicron Pi is to be of service to others - to bring into the world around us a spirit of love, not for self-glory, but as an opportunity to give something back to our communities. Each AOII chapter and its members may choose to organize and participate in various fund-raising and hands-on service events. Our sisters have fun while sharing their friendship and love through community service. Through the years, the combined service efforts of over 115,000 members have made a marked difference in the lives of thousands. Alpha Omicron Pi's International Philanthropy is Arthritis and Juvenile Arthritis Research. Collegiate chapters and Alumnae Chapters have all contributed tremendous amounts of funds to the AOII Foundation that goes towards grants to fund research to help find a cure for a disease that affects millions of people around world. Nearly 1 in 3 people suffer from Arthritis, and is currently the number 1 cause of disability in the United States. Our members also make it a priority to be involved and participate in other philanthropies around campus. 

RUN FOR THE ROSES

On November 11th, the members of Alpha Omicron Pi hosted our annual Run for the Roses 5K Walk/Run.  2016 marked our 8th annual race, and this year, it was a glow run!
This race, our largest philanthropy event of the year, benefits the Arthritis Foundation which provides grants to researchers seeking a cure for arthritis, financial support for the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization. As a whole, we raised over $29,450 last year alone!

STRIKE OUT ARTHRITIS 

Every spring Alpha Omicron Pi hosts its yearly softball tournament Strike Out Arthritis! On April 3rd we got to spend a beautiful sunny day cheering on teams as they competed against one another while donating to the Arthritis Foundation. Strike Out Arthritis is one of AOII's favorite events of the year because we are able to get our community involved with an organization that we care so deeply about. 2016's Strike Out Arthritis raised over $2,000.

AOII GOES BLUE

Alpha Omicron Pi Goes Blue for Arthritis is a newer event here at Alpha Lambda. For the second year in a row, to celebrate the Day of Service, we've hosted AOII Goes Blue and all proceeds went to support the Arthritis Foundation and Juvenile Arthritis Research. On March 3rd we were so excited to raise over $3,000 and spend the evening at the AOII house with great friends and food!
